Our cancer screening packages are recommended from women aged 21 and older. If you have a family history of breast or cervical cancer, our gynaecologists may recommend that you get a screening and risk assessment earlier.
Yes! We definitely recommend getting screened after turning 21. According to the American Cancer Society, cancer screenings are a preventative health measure that are recommended for everyone. These tests can detect abnormal changes earlier for faster diagnosis and treatment
If you have a family history of breast or cervical cancer, we would recommend taking the advanced package for your age group. This package includes BRCA gene testing. According to David Euhus M.D., at Johns Hopkins Medicine, testing positive for the BRCA 1 or 2 genes indicates a 45% to 85% chance of developing breast cancer.
It is totally normal to feel nervous when getting these tests. However, these tests can help detect early signs of cancer and aid you and your healthcare provider in taking steps to avoid further growth of cancer cells and treat it earlier. Early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancer have more than 90% survival rates!
- Our basic cancer package includes a pap smear or HPV-Pap co-testing depending on age, a thermal mammogram, and a gynaecology consult. It is recommended to get this package once every 3 years. It is recommended to do only the thermal mammogram annually.
- Our advanced package consists of pap smear or pap/HPV co-testing depending on age, BRCA 1 & 2 gene testing, and consultations with a gynaecologist and a genetic counsellor. This package is a one-time investment to aid you and your healthcare provider in taking the appropriate preventive healthcare measures to reduce the likelihood of cancer
Testing positive for a BRCA gene means that you might have a DNA mutation which increases your likelihood of getting breast cancer. If you do test positive though, don’t worry! Our gynaecologists and genetic counsellor will provide you with care, screening frequency advice, and referrals to other professionals so you can get the best, and most informed care.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer that occurs among Indian women followed by cervical cancer. Our packages have screenings that cover both of these cancers. Pap smears and HPV tests can scan for cervical cancer; thermal mammograms can scan for early signs of breast cancer; and the BRCA gene testing can check for DNA mutations in your body to provide information on the likelihood of getting breast cancer.
